Why You Shouldn't Buy Bottled Water

We are all aware of the dangers that await us if we drink tap water. Unfortunately, this has led a lot of people to start consuming bottled water. Bottled water has a lot of downsides that make it as dangerous as tap water. But a lot of people aren’t aware of them. If you are one of the people who consume bottled water, thinking that it’s the best alternative for tap water, read the following lines to find out why you should stop buying and drinking bottled water.

It’s contaminated

People are aware of the fact that tap water is contaminated. But are they all aware of the fact that bottled water is just as contaminated and harmful to their health? The answer is, unfortunately, no. Despite the commercials that the producers make for the bottled water that they sell, it isn’t “pure” at all. In fact, in some ways, it’s even more dangerous than tap water. A lot of tests have been done to figure out whether bottled water is safe to drink or not. The results of these tests have shown that bottled water is filled with toxic chemicals that are not normally permitted under EPA standards. Also, bottled water contains microorganisms and other forms of contaminants just like tap water does. In addition to not being healthy since it is released from the producer, bottled water sometimes travels for long distances to finally get on the shelf of a store. The poor conditions of transportation and the way it’s stored when it reaches the market does nothing more than to add to its toxicity.

You pay a lot more than it’s worth

When you buy bottled water, you pay a gross amount of money compared to what it’s actually worth. A gallon of bottled water costs about 2000 times more than the same amount of water if you were to drink it from the faucet. When you buy bottled water you overpay in an absurd way. Therefore, instead of spending your money on the expensive and toxic bottled water, invest in a water filter system. If you buy and use a water filter you will surely drink clean, pure water, without paying a ton of money for the fact that you feel thirsty or dehydrated.

It pollutes the environment

One of the biggest pollutants of our planet is the plastic waste. In America alone there are around half a billion bottles of water thrown every week. Unfortunately, only a few of the consumed bottles of water get recycled, the rest ending up polluting the rivers, oceans, and landfills. If you consider yourself to be a person who leads an Eco-friendly lifestyle, you have to stop participating in the destruction of our environment immediately by not buying bottled water anymore. Everything that surrounds us is being torn apart by pollution. You have to do everything you can to stop the pollution phenomenon, or, at least, to stop yourself from knowingly participating in it.
